Bob McCloy Receives
Vaughn Luster Award
at TCSA

(August 2008) Mr. Robert McCloy, former Executive Administrator of Westbury Christian School, received the Vaughn Luster Award at the recent annual Texas Christian Schools Association (TCSA) conference held at Northland Christian School in Houston, Texas.  In accepting the award, McCloy said, “People don’t win awards on their own merit.  This award is a compliment for everyone at WCS.”

Each year the board of the TCSA presents the Vaughn Luster award to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to Christian education in the state of Texas.  The Vaughn Luster Award was established in honor of Vaughn Luster who gave his entire adult life to Christian education.  At the time of his passing, he was the president of Dallas Christian School.

McCloy was instrumental in developing Westbury Christian School into a successful school system.  He initiated a challenging academic curriculum.  He expanded and improved the campus infrastructure, notably the building of Mundy Hall.  Most importantly, McCloy touched the lives of hundreds of students, faculty and staff through his Christian character, leadership skills and well-known charisma. McCloy also served on numerous boards and committees in the southwest Houston community.  McCloy said it was a great honor to receive the award.  He reiterated that “Christian education succeeds as a result of our dependency on Christ.”

McCloy retired in 2007 from WCS after serving as executive administrator for 20 years.  He and his wife, Patti, now reside in Tullahoma, Tennessee.
